Q&A

This is an area where, once a month or so, I’ll answer questions about cruising, boats and/or writing. Send questions to questions@fattygoodlander.com...

Question: are you going to waste a lot of time answering questions?

Answer: no.

Ahoy Fatty and Carolyn:

My name is Eric. Im 26 and have been living aboard my boat for five
years. (Im from Seattle) I am about to take off cruising. I just helped
deliver my friends custom bob perry 48 from oahu. We were welcomed into
the strait of Juan de Fuca by a breaching humpback whale. Anyway we got
in today (the 7th of July) and Im hauling out tomorrow to do lots of
stuff. What Im most excited for is my Aries windvane. I have been sailing
all my life but have never sailed with a windvane. It will be a new
experience. How do you guys cook mahi mahi? I was experimenting with some
modest success. My boats name is Secret Agent Man. Roma is cute. I bet
she has a boyfriend.

Keep it up,
Eric

Ahoy Eric,

We agree on three things: Roma is cute, Mahi-mahi is delicious and Aries windvanes are magic!

Carolyn cooks Mahi-mahi in a dozen ways... but, when the fish is five mintues old... all ways always tastes great.

I currently have a Monitor but my previous boat had an Aries. Both are excellent. I consider a windvane an important safety feature because I can always be rested if I have one. (Before I had a windvane I'd often get so tired I'd be a numbskull... or, as Carolyn likes to put it, "...you'd act even stupider than usual!")

RE: Roma. Oophs, you're the right age but a tad late. Roma was married to Christian Rojas a couple of weeks ago in Boston... the only Goodlander to be invoved with any shore person who is gainfully employed in many, many generations.

...anyway, Eric, I hope our wakes cross.
